Now that Memorial Day is behind us, Father’s Day is right around the corner. Pop on over to Dibble and Son’s and check out all of the beautiful goodies that make the perfect Father’s Day present. I chose this sunflower print and framed it to set on my buffet. I am sure it will be a traveling piece in my home. The Sunflower print reminds me of my Dad. Sunflowers remind me of my Dad because every year when my Dad plants his garden he incorporates sunflowers.
Real, Faux or Flower Artwork For Your Home!
Flowers have a place everywhere in our life. They are nice to have outdoors, but are important to have indoors as well. When I think about decorating my home with flowers, I consider real flowers, faux flowers or flower art work.
When I was a little girl I loved helping my Dad in his garden. Truth be told, he liked to do most of the work (including pulling weeds) on his own. Every year in February he sits down with his graph paper and Farmer’s Almanac and plots out his garden plan.
Idea #1: When I’m out at the grocery store picking up my perishable items, I love to grab 2-3 bunches of flowers, as well. I bring the flowers home and separate the bunches and make a couple of flower arrangements for my home.
I don’t really like going to the grocery store and so buying flowers is a huge treat. Grove Collaborative assists me with my monthly grocery shopping and you can check them out here.
Real Flowers In Your Home!
Gardening has always been a favorite past time of mine. I love digging my hands in the dirt and planting flowers. I get excited when the bulbs begin to emerge from the ground. Planting seeds and waiting for them to grow forces me to be patient and let nature take its course.
Idea #2: When you have flowers in the garden, you can cut small stems and bring them inside.
These last few years my garden has consisted of planted pots on my patio. I have not had an outdoor garden the past few years, but I’m always sure to have flowers; fresh or faux in my home.
My Dad loves to plant carrot’s, zucchini’s, tomatoes and swiss chard. Flowers really aren’t his thing to plant in the garden, but then a few years back he discovered sunflowers.
Years ago my Dad was introduced to sunflowers. Now, each year he plants the sunflowers as a fence around his garden. In my Dad’s garden space, which is a square plot approximately 10 x 10, he plants his sunflower seeds along the fence. A sunflower wall is created around the garden. It’s so beautiful to see the 6 foot sunflowers pop their head over the fence.
Faux Flowers in Your Home!
In my home, I don’t like to just rely on real flowers, I place faux flowers in areas where I’m looking for a pop of color. I love having a pop of pink in the master bedroom of my home. I have the perfect white and pink faux flower arrangement that sits on my bedside sewing cabinet turned desk table. I’m sure you’ve seen it in past posts.
Idea #3: Use faux flowers in a vase to add a pop of color to any room.
Flower Artwork in Your Home!
I really love decorating with Flower Artwork. The print from Dibble and Son’s is a beautiful addition to my Flower Artwork. I also love having pillows with flowers like the one I made from a decor transfer. Flowers on furniture also adds a one of a kind look to any room. I’ve even been know to decorate vintage suitcases with flowers.
Idea #4: Incorporate flowers on your pillows, furniture, old suitcases or walls.
The sunflowers from Dibble and Sun’s remind me of my Dad. My Dad is a Gardener, and a Sailor and a Kayaker and a DIYer and he is a great Dad. I look forward to celebrating Father’s Day with my Dad in the next couple of weeks.
