My tree was full and I really didn’t need to add any more ornaments to it, but….well…..sometimes I just can’t get enough crafting and diy-ing.

Is your tree looking a little sparse? Or are you just a little obsessed with crafting….like me?

Are you looking for a fast, fun and friendly Christmas Ornament DIY?

Oh good, I was too.

The Yarn Garland was all over the tree.

The bulbs and icicles were on the tree.

There were stars on the tree and it looked oh so pretty, but then……

But then I was on Pinterest, just for the heck of it….

And of course Embroidery Hoop Ornaments started to show up all over Pinterest. Well, you know me…..when I see something that looks fun and easy I can’t help myself but to try it out.

Even though my tree was finished and full of beautiful warm and neutral ornaments, I still wanted to create more. So that’s just what I decided to do.

I love faux fur ribbon, and the faux fur ribbon is really fun to decorate with. The Faux Fur Ribbon was used on my Front Door Wreath. Remember last week when I showed you the “Front Door Holiday Decor and Five Things Needed to Decorate the Front Door.”

Well, since I had some extra Faux Fur Ribbon, I came up with a plan to create Faux Fur Ribbon Embroidery Hoop Ornaments! I’ve included the DIY tutorial below, just in case I’ve inspired you to create your own.

Materials for Embroidery Hoop Christmas Ornament:

• 3 inch Embroidery Hoops

• 4 inch Faux Fur Ribbon

• Paint – I used DIY Paint in Dark and Decrepit and then DIY Paint Tarnished Pearl. You can purchase it here.

• Top Coat – I used Rustoleum Clear Coat

• Black String

• Greenery and Berries

• Scissors

Instructions for Embroidery Hoop Christmas Ornament:

Step one: Take the Embroidery Hoop apart (it’s two pieces) and paint and or stain the Embroidery Hoops. I wanted my hoops to look old and distressed. I stained the hoops a dark color first and then painted with a light color on top. I distressed the hoops to then show the contrasting colors. My final step was to seal the paint on the hoop.

Step two: Cut the Faux Fur Ribbon to fit the hoop. You can measure the size of the hoop and then cut a square with the measurement or just guesstimate.

Note aside: I’m kind of a guesstimate crafter, what are you?

Step three: Place Faux Fur Ribbon inside the hoop.

Step four: Trim the excess Faux Fur Ribbon off the back.

Step five: Prepare greenery and/or berries to be placed on hoop. I had extra greenery on hand and just cut it up to create something that worked.

Step six: Use a thin ribbon to tie the greenery and berries onto the hoop.

Step seven: Create a loop with your ribbon to hang your ornament on the tree.

Step eight: Hang your ornaments on the tree and enjoy!

Have fun and be creative with this project. I also used a black and white ribbon and a gold jingle bell to create a whole new ornament look. Crafting doesn’t have to be expensive. I have included links so you can create the exact project, but you can also be creative and do something “one of a kind”, with what you already have.

In my home, I don’t just put up Faux Christmas Trees. In my home, I create Christmas Trees out of whatever I can find. This year, I decide to create Christmas Tree Wall Art and took old junk and created Christmas Trees.

Mason Jar Lid Christmas Trees!

Did you see my Fall Trees? A few weeks ago I wrote about “Fall Decor into Christmas Decor in My Home.” Let me just tell you, it made setting up Christmas a heck of a lot easier. If you missed my fall trees, you can check it out here.

I think you might think I’m a little obsessed with Christmas Trees.

You might be right….

I’ve been using Christmas Trees since Thanksgiving. Did you see my “Thanksgiving Tablescape Ideas” where I place trees and turkeys (really hens) all over my table?

Well, now it’s time to get to the Mason Jar Lid Christmas Tree Wall Art. Stay tuned, because their may be more Junk turned Christmas Trees in my home.

I use mason jars all the time, and I always end up with way too many lids. I love to use mason jars for many things like drinking coffee on the go, or creating a pretty flower arrangement or for storing leftover food, you get the picture? But on this Junk Christmas Tree, I’m using the lids of mason jars and shaping them into a tree.

Keep reading because I’m also including a quick DIY on how I made the Mason Jar Lid Christmas Tree.

DIY Mason Jar Lid Christmas Tree.

Materials needed for the Mason Jar Lid Christmas Tree:

• Mason jar lids – any shape, size or type
• Paint – A Maker’s Studio Rescue and Restore Paint is wonderful paint or DIY Paint is another favorite of mine
• Paint Brush – I like the Square Specialty Brush because it easily gets into the crevices of the board
• Top Coat – Rustoleum
• Glue Gun
• Wood Board – I used a 15 x 20 inch framed board from A Maker’s Studio.
• Ribbon
• Metal or Wooden Words – I found mine at the dollar store, but these from Michael’s Arts and Crafts are nice too

Instructions for the Mason Jar Lid Christmas Tree:

• Find board and prior to painting, lay mason jar lids on board to determine how your tree will look

• Paint Board color of choice

• Seal board with a top coat sealer

• Paint mason jar lids color of choice

• Use glue gun to adhere lids to board

• Using glue gun, add your sign atop the lids in a pretty manner

• Tie your ribbon into a bow.
• Use glue gun to adhere ribbon to the top fo the mason jar lid tree

• Add hook to the back of wood surface to hang your tree on the wall or use an easel to set your tree on a bookcase

I love junk and I love using and re-using. For this Front Door Holiday Sign I was inspired to repurpose an old sign into something new for the holidays.

Front Door Holiday Sign DIY!

As with every child, as I got older I started to question if Santa was real.

Did you stop believing in Santa?

My Mom always said, “if you don’t believe, then you won’t receive and Santa won’t come.”

It’s a tradition, I’ve passed on to my boys. The thought of no gifts is enough to make anyone believe in Santa.

Wood Sign DIY using Essential Stencils!

My front entrance is not grand, it’s really not. Although, every entrance needs to look glorious!

I wanted my front entrance to look grand and glorious and so for this year, I decided to create a sign with the word, Believe!

I’ve been using this super cute “Home Sweet Home” sign in my hallway and decided to repurpose it into a Christmas Sign. I just turned it over and created a second sign on it’s back. It saves on storage and money!

Holiday Sign!

Now let me show you how to make a glorious and grand Front Door Holiday Sign, a “Believe” wood sign!

Materials needed for the Front Door Holiday Sign:

• Wood board – mine is a 5 foot pine board originally painted with DIY Paint in Dark and Decrepit.
• Paint – I used DIY Paint in Little Black Dress and White Swan.
• Top Coat – I used Rustoleum 2X Ultra Cover Gloss Clear
• Believe Stencil – I used Essential Stencils and I added the December 25th Stencil as well.
• Stencil Brushes
• Paint Brushes
• Ribbon or Bow- I chose a black and white checkerboard ribbon.

Instructions for the Front Door Holiday Sign:

1. Take your sign and turn it over.
2. Use a paintbrush and paint the wood. Originally my wood was painted in DIY Paint Dark and Decrepit. I painted it in DIY Paint Little Black Dress. Allow paint to dry.
3. Add a top coat. I used Rustoleum 2x Ultra Cover Gloss Clear. I had the can on hand.
4. Take stencil and use frog tape to adhere stencil to sign.
5. Use stencil brush and stencil the sign with the stencil adhered. When stenciling use a very small amount of paint on your brush. Pounce brush up and down onto sign. Let paint dry.
6. Remove stencil and wash with soap and water.
7. Add a final top coat. I used Rustoleum 2x Ultra Cover Gloss Clear. I had the can on hand. Let top coat dry.
8. Add ribbon or bow, of your liking, to your sign.
9. Enjoy your sign.

Of course, these little turquoise chairs were the perfect spot for my 3 year old little friend.

I remember ten years ago when my sweet boys used these same chairs to enjoy their snack. Luke would pull up, as close as he could, to the table. He’d wait patiently for me to bring him his snack and turn on his favorite show Calliou on the television.

Now, Luke is playing football in high school. He takes command of the field, he leads the others and makes touchdowns. Last week when the scoreboard reached 20 to 6, and his team was in the lead, he sat down on the bench, proud of his team’s efforts, staring at the scoreboard.

And this Proud Mama sat in the stands, quietly watching #33, feeling so proud.

Where, oh where, has the time gone….

I’ll snap my fingers and he’ll be in college and off making a name for himself.

Last month, Rustoleum asked me to share a project I did using their paints. I thought of the upcoming visit with my girlfriend and her 3 year old daughter and the chairs came to mind.

The chairs were siting on the patio, holding plants and looking a little chippy and old. 14 years old to be exact. I brought the little chairs into the house to give them a good cleaning and a new paint of coat.

Here is the DIY on how to create these cute little chairs.

1. Clean chairs with soap and water.
2. Paint chairs with Rustoleum Painters Touch 2X Ultra Cover Paint-Primer in Satin Aqua. TIP: Prior to stenciling ensure you are using a paint that includes a top coat or apply a top coat. This allows you to remove the stencil easily if you make a mistake.
3. Using A Maker’s Studio Adhesive Stencils in Alphabet 3, stencil chairs.
4. Remove mesh stencil from white backing and adhere on surface. TIP: The Stencil Pack comes in a 9×12 size. Cut each stencil so they are easier to use.
5. Using A Maker’s Studio Chalk Art, color I Reckon and A Maker’s Studio Scraper, apply white chalk art onto the stencil.
6. Scrape the Chalk Art so that it seeps through the mesh and onto your surface. TIP: You can remove part of the stencil to ensure the chalk art is seeping through. Be careful not to remove all of the stencil until you are ready.
7. Remove stencil. TIP: Use the corner of the scraper to assist in removing the stencil from the surface, if needed.
8. Soak stencil in warm and soapy water. TIP: Once stencil is clean let air dry, sticky side up on a paper towel. TIP: Once the stencil is dry place stencil back onto white backing.
9. Use the tip of a pencil eraser to apply the dot to the No. 2.
10. Allow chair to dry.
11. Paint chairs with Rustoleum Clear Matte.

These little chairs bring back so many old and new memories.

For this project you will need:

• Faux Pumpkins – if you don’t have any on hand, check out the Dollar Store.
• Rustoleum’s Painter’s Touch 2x Ultra Cover Satin Spray, Satin Aqua.
• Iron Orchid Design Decor Stamp in Rose Toile
• Iron Orchid Design Ink in White
• Iron Orchid Design Stamp Pad
• Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint in Layered Chocolate
• Paint Brush

Here’s the quick and easy diy with photos included!

• Add ink to pad. I prefer to purchase a stamp pad for each color I’m using. A few drops of ink is all you need.
• Apply pad to stamp. Test stamp on paper first to ensure you have not applied to much ink to the stamp.
• Stamp pumpkins. Once you have placed the inked stamp on surface, hold with one hand and tickle stamp with the other hand. Do not shift.
• Paint stems with Brown Paint using Paint Brush.
