Hey there Sweet Friends, today on the blog I’m sharing a short message to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope 2019 is all you hope it to be.
Starting the New Year a Little Slow!
My youngest son Troy and I headed up to the snow on the 1st to do some skiing and have some quality time…hence, my short post. We spent the day skiing and snowboarding and will be back at it tomorrow. What a way to start the New Year! Reno, Nevada has been sunny and beautiful and the snow is just perfect.
The Best of 2018!
This Year was a BIG one for me. BIG can be scary, but BIG can also be good and that makes it the best. Three things in my personal life stand out and I am so thankful for all of my friends and family for their support; my divorce finalized, I started a new business (a lifelong dream of mine) and I moved out to the Woods!
Skiing down the mountain today really reminded me how much I have had to lean into fear and it’s okay. Usually after a few beginner trails, I start to get a little crazy and think I can hit the big slopes.
I had to remind myself all year; “I’ve got this! I can follow my dreams and be successful!” It’s scary and sometimes very difficult to shut the voices in my head. But that’s where leaning into the fear comes in.
I wrote a post about Brene Brown’s Book, “Braving the Wilderness” a while back and it’s a good one to start the year with. You can read that post here.
As Brene says, “I believe that you have to walk through vulnerability to get to courage, therefore . . . embrace the suck.” You might enjoy checking out her website and subscribing to her blog here.
We will be skiing and snowboarding again tomorrow and I’m sure I’ll need to lean into the fear just to get down the mountain. I love skiing, but I really hate going too fast and falling down in the snow, especially towards the end of the day when I’m tired. But the beauty of the mountains is something I cannot resist.
I’ll be back in the next couple days for some fun projects and diy’s.
What was your Best of 2018! Leave a comment and let me know.
