Looking to create a side table for your home? Have you considered an Upcycled Wine Box. Easy to make side table using an old, upcycled Wine Box turned Magazine Table!

Hey there, Sweet Friends, I haven’t had a Transformation Tuesday for a while, so today is the day. Upcycling old things is always fun. I get a thrill out of saving a ton and not shopping at the furniture store. I was looking for a little table to hold my magazines and favorite books. One that could sit right next to my sofa and act as a little side table where I could set my drink while I’m lounging.

Upcycled Wine Box!

For this Transformation Tuesday, I’m upcycling old wine boxes. For this project, I did not need to go to the furniture store, instead I just went into my storage unit. Old wine boxes are so fun to upcycle, just like old drawers! I also like to upcyle old shadow boxes.

About a year ago I saw a post on Facebook Marketplace for wine boxes. I could not get down there quick enough and grabbed six from the young boy. The boy selling the boxes told me his Grandfather owned a winery. Go figure.!! It was a steal at $20 for six and they were in all different sizes.

My mind went crazy with ideas. Initially, I created a Pet Bed with a Wine Box. Those were bigger sellers when I attended TreasureFest in San Francisco. But, like many projects, the other wine boxes sat for awhile as I was finishing up other things.

I’ve used wine boxes for Dog Beds, and to corral books, but I really needed a small little table with a magazine rack for beside my sofa. I was looking for that perfect spot to set my drink while lounging on the couch and watch You Tube.

I tend to re-arrange my furniture quite often, so you’ll see the Upcycled Wine Box found a couple of favorite spots in my house. When I’m not lounging on the couch, I like to move it out of the way and set it near my desk.

Wine Box Turned Magazine Table!

Here is how I created this Wine Box Turned Magazine Table.

Materials needed to Create a Magazine Table:

  • Wine Box
  • Chicken Wire or Magazine File Folder
  • Paint and Sealer
  • Stencils
  • Paint Brushes
  • Scissors or wire cutters

Instructions for How To Create an Upcycle Wine Box Turned Magazine Table:

  • Step one: Gather your supplies.
  • Step two: Paint and seal your wine box
  • Step three: Use a pretty stencil to decorate your wine box.
  • Step four: Add chicken wire or a metal file rack inside the box.

For this project I painted the wine box using DIY Paint in the color White Swan and used the Big Top as a Top Coat. I then used Donna’s “Old Sign Stencils” in Valentine’s Day and Farmers Market with DIY Paint in Little Black Dress. I had an old metal magazine file folder that I was able to stick inside, but chicken wire works just fine.

This project was so simple and I am just loving the results. It found a home near my couch where I can place my drink on the table. When I’m lounging around watching YouTube, I don’t always want to have to reach over to the coffee table.

When I’m not lounging around on the couch (which is most of the time), it sits well next to my desk, and allows me to create a little more space around the couch.

Where would you place a Wine Box Turned Magazine Table if you had one.

Do you think you’ll want to recreate this project?

I hope I’ve inspired you to take something old and make it new. I hope I’ve inspired you to create an Upcycled Wine Box!

Now go out there and Create Something!
