Hey there, Sweet Friends, it’s Transformation Thursday and today I’ll be talking about ‘Furniture Makeover’s using Decor Transfers!“
Did you catch my video yesterday? If you missed it you can watch it here.
A Maker’s Studio recently released some exciting new products, and one of which is the Tri-Vek Color Transfers. If you want to shop and purchase go here.
A Maker’s Studio Color Transfers!
The Tri-Vek Color Transfers come in 6 different styles. The Bundle pack is a good option as the transfer can be adhered to a variety of surfaces to create customized DIY Home Decor, as well as creating one of a kind furniture make overs.
I am familiar and have used three types of Decor Transfers on furniture and DIY home decor projects; A Maker’s Studio, Iron Orchid Designs and Re-Design With Prima.
Furniture Make Over’s Using Color Transfers!
Decor Transfers added to Furniture Makeovers create a One of a Kind look. I thought i’d share some of my experiences of each.
A Maker’s Studio Color Transfers are a thick consistency and adhered well to my sealed wood surface. They recommended using a wood stick to adhere the transfer, and since there was not a tool included when I purchased the transfers, I decided to use the tool that Iron Orchid Designs provides, a small plastic scraper. The packaging indicates that sealing your surface after the transfer has been adhered is optional. I chose to seal my surface with DIY Paint Big Top.
Iron Orchid Designs Decor Transfers are a bit thinner and more delicate than the A Maker’s Studio Transfers. I have always had good experiences with the transfers and do like the tool they provide. I would say though, in comparison, they are thinner and more fragile.
Prima Marketing Decor Transfer come in a vast selection of images. I’ve noticed they can be purchased all over the web at varying prices and not just by retailers. Amazon and Etsy also sell the products. I find the transfers to be slightly more difficult to adhere to surfaces. Perhaps, it’s because the tool they provide is a cardboard stick which easily bends and breaks. Sometimes I do use a different tool, but have still found that they do not as easily come off of the backing. The transfer is a thick consistency and I’ve never had any issues with it ripping or sticking.
With all of these transfers, I’ve always adhered them to a waxed or sealed surface and not had any issues with the color bleeding or the transfer not adhering. Although, I’ve heard stories from others about this happening.
Overall, I would recommend all of these Decor Transfers. Each company has a variety of options to fit individual style and taste.
