<p>Today is&nbsp;<strong>Part 3</strong>&nbsp;of my &#8220;<strong>5 Steps to Restoring Thrift Store Items</strong>&#8221; series. This is a five-part video series to share tips for restoring thrift store items at home.&nbsp; I will be sharing all about A Maker&#8217;s Studio Waxes, Sealers, Glazes <g class="gr_ gr_6 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="6" data-gr-id="6">and</g> Gel Stains. &nbsp;Amy Howard is the Founder of these amazing products.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Restoring Thrift Store Items Video Series</h2>

<p>I love finding something to refurbish, searching for the right color and then selecting how I want to finish it off. &nbsp; If you&#8217;d like to read about <a href="https://createwithcynthia.com/restoring-thrift-store-items-1">Day 1</a> and <a href="https://createwithcynthia.com/restoring-thrift-store-items-2">Day 2</a> click here.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="800" height="563" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/image.png" alt="Create with cynthia, A Maker's Studio, Thrift Store items, Craft a Beautiful Life, Enjoy the Bragging Rights, Rescue and Restore Paint, Gilding, Chalk Art, Adhesive Stencils, create with cynthia, cynthia nessel, furniture restoration, diy vintage decor, redwood city, san francisco bloggers, bay area bloggers" class="wp-image-1182" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/image.png 800w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/image-300x211.png 300w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/image-768x540.png 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/image-600x422.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption>3rd Step in my 5 Steps to Restore Thrift Store Items with A Maker’s Studio Products.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Sealers, Waxes, Gel Stains, and Glazes are just a few of the ways that you can finish off a refurbished item. A Maker&#8217;s Studio has so many options. &nbsp; This round coffee table in the photo above I used <a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/membertoolsdotnet/shoppingcartv4/MainCartv4.aspx?MG=13&amp;G1=68&amp;G2=69">Rescue and Restore Paint Blessed</a> and finished it off with the <a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/membertoolsdotnet/shoppingcartv4/MainCartv4.aspx?MG=13&amp;G1=72&amp;G2=81">Light Antiquing Wax</a>. &nbsp; You can shop my website for these products.</p>

<p>Sealers are great to be used over the Rescue and Restore paint and provide a heavy duty sealer surface on items that get dirty quickly. &nbsp; The Matte Sealer by A Maker&#8217;s Studio goes on as a white but dries clear. &nbsp;Usually two to three coats is recommended.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1600" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1847-e1540266055964.jpg" alt="Create with cynthia, A Maker's Studio, Thrift Store items, Craft a Beautiful Life, Enjoy the Bragging Rights, Rescue and Restore Paint, Gilding, Chalk Art, Adhesive Stencils, create with cynthia, cynthia nessel, furniture restoration, diy vintage decor, redwood city, san francisco bloggers, bay area bloggers" class="wp-image-1110" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1847-e1540266055964.jpg 1200w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1847-e1540266055964-225x300.jpg 225w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1847-e1540266055964-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1847-e1540266055964-600x800.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /><figcaption>Create with cynthia, A Maker&#8217;s Studio, Thrift Store items, Craft a Beautiful Life, Enjoy the Bragging Rights, Rescue and Restore Paint, Gilding, Chalk Art, Adhesive Stencils</figcaption></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Restoring Thrift Store Items</h3>

<p>A Maker&#8217;s Studio carries Embellishing Wax in Gold, Silver <g class="gr_ gr_6 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="6" data-gr-id="6">and</g> Copper and can be purchased&nbsp;<a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/membertoolsdotnet/shoppingcartv4/MainCartv4.aspx?MG=13&amp;G1=72&amp;G2=80">here.</a>&nbsp; Another option is the Antiquing Wax in Light or Dark and the Cerusing Wax. &nbsp; These products can be purchased <a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/membertoolsdotnet/shoppingcartv4/MainCartv4.aspx?MG=13&amp;G1=72&amp;G2=81">here</a>. The Cerusing Wax is best used over a color other than white. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Gel Stains are water based and smell incredible with the essential oils that are added. &nbsp; They come in the following colors: Auburn Mahogany, Windsor Grey, Kensington Black, Antique Pine, English Walnut and Hazel Mahogany. &nbsp;Which is your favorite color? &nbsp; They can be purchased <a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/MemberToolsDotNet/FirestormExternalContent.aspx?Target=relative(ShoppingCartv4/MainCartv4.aspx)">here</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Restoring Thrift Store Items Video Series</h2>

<p>As you know, I am a Maker Boss for A Maker&#8217;s Studio and carry all of their products online on my website.  If you&#8217;re interested, you can <a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/membertoolsdotnet/shoppingcartv4/SelectCartCatalog.aspx?MG=-1&amp;G1=-1&amp;G2=-1&amp;SCC=-1&amp;SCCRoutingCode=&amp;ReferringDealerID=813550">go here to shop</a>.<br></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Launch of A Maker&#8217;s Studio</h3>

<p>This past weekend, I spent 2 1/2 days at the launch of A Maker’s Studio.  The event was amazing.  I felt loved on, cared for, and spoiled the whole time, which made <g class="gr_ gr_461 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="461" data-gr-id="461">it</g> such an incredible experience.  You can <a href="https://createwithcynthia.com/a-makers-studio-launch/">read all about my trip here</a>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1600" height="1600" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953.jpg" alt="restoring thrift store items, a maker's studio, create with cynthia, cynthia nessel, furniture restoration, restore furniture, restoring thrift store items, rehaul thrift store find, repainted furniture, a maker's studio product review, furniture cleaner" class="wp-image-1119" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953.jpg 1600w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-150x150.jpg 150w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-300x300.jpg 300w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-768x768.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-1100x1100.jpg 1100w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-500x500.jpg 500w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-600x600.jpg 600w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_2953-100x100.jpg 100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Restoring Thrift Store Items</h3>

<p>Now that I&#8217;ve shared a little bit about the event with you, let&#8217;s move onto our second step in restoring thrift store items; like vases, trays and or pumpkins (cause it is that time of the year).  After cleaning them up, it&#8217;s time to paint them.  </p>

<p>When restoring your thrift store finds, it&#8217;s important to find good quality paints and brushes.  A Maker&#8217;s Studio carries a paint, made just for restoring vintage items, called Rescue and Restore Paint.  It comes in a variety of colors, which you can find <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="A Maker's Studio carries a paint, made just for restoring vintage items, called Rescue and Restore Paint.  It comes in a variety of colors, which you can find here.  Good tools are also very important. (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/membertoolsdotnet/shoppingcartv4/SelectCartCatalog.aspx?MG=-1&amp;G1=-1&amp;G2=-1&amp;SCC=-1&amp;SCCRoutingCode=&amp;ReferringDealerID=813550" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>

<p>Once your items have been cleaned with an A Maker&#8217;s Studio Furniture Cleaner and a lint-free cloth, they then can be painted.  </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1600" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3110.jpg" alt="restoring thrift store items, a maker's studio, create with cynthia, cynthia nessel, furniture restoration, restore furniture, restoring thrift store items, rehaul thrift store find, repainted furniture, a maker's studio product review, furniture cleaner" class="wp-image-1118" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3110.jpg 1200w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3110-225x300.jpg 225w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3110-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3110-600x800.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Maker&#8217;s Studio Products for Thrift Store Restorations</h3>

<p>What I love about the Rescue and Restore paint, is that it can be used on any surface without prepping by sanding.  A Maker&#8217;s Studio Furniture Cleaner is the only preparation needed.  Thankfully, this product allows you to paint wood or ceramics, as I do in my video series below, as well as leather, fabric, glass, metal, etc.</p>

<p>Just look at these adorable onesies that were painted by soaking in a combination of water and paint, a<g class="gr_ gr_68 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="68" data-gr-id="68">pproximately</g> 1 part paint to 5 parts water.  The yellow onesie was painted with Rescue and Restore paint in the color <em>Hissy Fit</em>.  This paint color can be purchased in the 2 oz. or 16 oz. size depending on the project you are working on.  Each can be <a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/membertoolsdotnet/shoppingcartv4/SelectCartCatalog.aspx?MG=-1&amp;G1=-1&amp;G2=-1&amp;SCC=-1&amp;SCCRoutingCode=&amp;ReferringDealerID=813550">purchased here</a>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1600" height="1200" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_E2995.jpg" alt="restoring thrift store items, Painted onesies, stenciled onesies, Rescue and Restore paint, A Maker's Studio, Create With Cynthia, cynthia nessel, san francisco blogger, bay area blogger" class="wp-image-1111" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_E2995.jpg 1600w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_E2995-300x225.jpg 300w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_E2995-768x576.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_E2995-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_E2995-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></figure>

<p>The Rescue and Restore paint can also be used with <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="The Rescue and Restore paint can also be used with A Maker's Studio Adhesive Stencils.  This table was painted in Rescue and Restore Paint Blessed and then a stencil was put on the bottom shelf. <p>As you can see, there are so many options available with A Maker&#8217;s Studio products.  I highly recommend them for their quality and performance in the restorations process.</p>
