Waxes, Sealers, Glazes and Gel Stains Finish a Project Nicely

Sealers, Waxes, Gel Stains, and Glazes are just a few of the ways that you can finish off a refurbished item. A Maker’s Studio has so many options.  This round coffee table in the photo above I used Rescue and Restore Paint Blessed and finished it off with the Light Antiquing Wax.  You can shop my website for these products.

Sealers are great to be used over the Rescue and Restore paint and provide a heavy duty sealer surface on items that get dirty quickly.  The Matte Sealer by A Maker’s Studio goes on as a white but dries clear.  Usually two to three coats is recommended.

A Maker’s Studio carries Embellishing Wax in Gold, Silver and Copper and can be purchased here.  Another option is the Antiquing Wax in Light or Dark and the Cerusing Wax.  These products can be purchased here. The Cerusing Wax is best used over a color other than white.  

Gel Stains are water based and smell incredible with the essential oils that are added.  They come in the following colors: Auburn Mahogany, Windsor Grey, Kensington Black, Antique Pine, English Walnut and Hazel Mahogany.  Which is your favorite color?  They can be purchased here.

Restoring Thrift Store Items Video Series

As you know, I am a Maker Boss for A Maker’s Studio and carry all of their products online on my website.  If you’re interested, you can go here to shop.

The Launch of A Maker’s Studio

This past weekend, I spent 2 1/2 days at the launch of A Maker’s Studio.  The event was amazing.  I felt loved on, cared for, and spoiled the whole time, which made it such an incredible experience.  You can read all about my trip here.

Restoring Thrift Store Items

Now that I’ve shared a little bit about the event with you, let’s move onto our second step in restoring thrift store items; like vases, trays and or pumpkins (cause it is that time of the year).  After cleaning them up, it’s time to paint them.  

When restoring your thrift store finds, it’s important to find good quality paints and brushes.  A Maker’s Studio carries a paint, made just for restoring vintage items, called Rescue and Restore Paint.  It comes in a variety of colors, which you can find here.

Once your items have been cleaned with an A Maker’s Studio Furniture Cleaner and a lint-free cloth, they then can be painted. 

A Maker’s Studio Products for Thrift Store Restorations

What I love about the Rescue and Restore paint, is that it can be used on any surface without prepping by sanding.  A Maker’s Studio Furniture Cleaner is the only preparation needed.  Thankfully, this product allows you to paint wood or ceramics, as I do in my video series below, as well as leather, fabric, glass, metal, etc.

Just look at these adorable onesies that were painted by soaking in a combination of water and paint, approximately 1 part paint to 5 parts water.  The yellow onesie was painted with Rescue and Restore paint in the color Hissy Fit.  This paint color can be purchased in the 2 oz. or 16 oz. size depending on the project you are working on.  Each can be purchased here.

The Rescue and Restore paint can also be used with A Maker’s Studio Adhesive Stencils.  This table was painted in Rescue and Restore Paint Blessed and then a stencil was applied to the bottom shelf. The mesh stencil that I used is the Floor Tile Clubs and can be purchased here.  I used the used the paint color, Gathered, for the stencils.

As you can see, there are so many options available with A Maker’s Studio products.  I highly recommend them for their quality and performance in the restorations process.
