Repurposing Furniture is the Best Thing About My Job!

Redecorating furniture that would probably go to the dump is very rewarding.

Today on the Blog, I am going to share with you a story about rescuing, repurposing, redecorating furniture.  

The best thing about my job is I get to take a piece of furniture that would most likely go to the dump yard and re-create and make it beautiful again.

I love creating and this is just one of my business lines that I am really having a great time with.

This piece of furniture was a mess.  Not only was it super dirty but it lacked the rails to hold the two bottom drawers together. After fixing all of the wood mishaps and making it sturdier, I began the project of rescuing.

 I cleaned the dresser.

I then painted it with a mixture of Annie Sloan Pure White and Debi’s Design Diary Apocethary.  Both products are chalk paint and I felt comfortable mixing them.  I think the color came out beautifully to match the decor in the restaurant.

I sanded and sealed the product with A Maker’s Studio Antiquing Wax.

Here’s the story about how this dresser came about.  

This story makes me love my job.  A couple weeks ago I received a call from a girl at a restaurant interested in one of my dressers. I had posted a dresser on Facebook marketplace.  It’s still there and you can see it here.

When I showed up to deliver the dresser she was a little disappointed about the height. The dresser serves as the hostess counter as you walk into the pizza parlor. 

Once we figured out it would not work in the restaurant long term, she asked me if I could fix the broken dresser.

The Virgo in me always wants to help and so I quickly said, well of course.

My dresser has been sitting in Blue Line Pizza in San Carlos for the past week.  Today, I will deliver the new dresser to Blue Line Pizza.  I’m a little nervous, but also certain that she will love it.

Who wouldn’t love this job?
