<p>Today is <strong>Part 1</strong> of my &#8220;<strong>5 Steps to Restoring Thrift Store Items</strong>&#8221; series. This is a five part video series to share tips for restoring thrift store items at home. &nbsp;I will also be sharing all about A Maker’s Studio products. &nbsp;<br></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Restoring thrift store items can be so rewarding.</h2>

<p>As you know, I am a Maker Boss for A Maker&#8217;s Studio and carry all of their products on my website. You can visit my&nbsp;<a href="https://www.amakersstudio.com/MemberToolsDotNet/FirestormExternalContent.aspx?Target=relative(ShoppingCartv4/MainCartv4.aspx)">shop</a>&nbsp;to see more of their products. &nbsp;Last month was the Launch of a Maker&#8217;s Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, which you can all about&nbsp;<a href="https://createwithcynthia.com/a-makers-studio-launch/">here.</a></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1600" height="1200" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1949.jpg" alt="a maker's studio, create with cynthia, restore furniture, rehaul thrift store find, repainted furniture, sebastian Lagree, Heartcore, restoring thrift store items" class="wp-image-1087" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1949.jpg 1600w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1949-300x225.jpg 300w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1949-768x576.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1949-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1949-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /><figcaption>Annie and Cynthia at HeartCore in Redwood City, California</figcaption></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Thrift store shopping can be fun.</h3>

<p>I &nbsp;was driving into my exercise class to meet my bestie Annie and after class decided to run over to Saver&#8217;s, the Thrift Store in my town. &nbsp;Annie and I work out each week and HeartCore is our favorite place to exercise. &nbsp;<a href="https://iheartcore.com">HeartCore Studio</a> is a women owned business and teaches the LaGree method. &nbsp; On my drive into town on this particular day, I had the idea of the blog post.&nbsp;&#8220;Restoring Thrift Store Items in Five Steps.&#8221;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="1600" height="1200" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1356-1.jpg" alt="a maker's studio, create with furniture, restore furniture, rehaul thrift store find, repainted furniture, restoring thrift store items" class="wp-image-1090" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1356-1.jpg 1600w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1356-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1356-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1356-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_1356-1-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></figure>

<p>The cost at Saver&#8217;s was about $33 and for the amount of things I got, a pretty good deal.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1600" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3109.jpg" alt="a maker's studio, create with furniture, restore furniture, rehaul thrift store find, repainted furniture, restoring thrift store items" class="wp-image-1091" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3109.jpg 1200w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3109-225x300.jpg 225w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3109-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3109-600x800.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>If you’ve been following along and would like to use some of the A Maker&#8217;s Studio products used here, you can visit click&nbsp;<a href="http://www.amakersstudio.com/createwithcynthia">here</a>&nbsp;to find them.</p>

<p>In Part 1 of the Restoring Thrift Store Items series today, I will be preparing my items to be redecorated.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Let&#8217;s get started&#8230;</h4>

<p>To start, I like to use A Maker&#8217;s Studio Furniture Cleaner and a lint free rag to clean my pieces. &nbsp;</p>

<p>This cleaner helps to remove any extra dirt or wax that may be on your thrift pieces. &nbsp;Use a lint free cloth and a generous amount of cleaner. &nbsp;Wipe all of the parts and crevices until clean. &nbsp;Let sit for a couple minutes to dry. &nbsp; Now you are ready to paint.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1600" src="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3119.jpg" alt="a maker's studio, create with cynthia, cynthia nessel, furniture restoration, restore furniture, restoring thrift store items, rehaul thrift store find, repainted furniture, a maker's studio product review, furniture cleaner" class="wp-image-1086" srcset="https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3119.jpg 1200w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3119-225x300.jpg 225w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3119-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://createwithcynthia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG_3119-600x800.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>
