When that is the case, I always turn to handmade. It’s meaningful and sentimental and I find my friends are grateful for the time I take to make a handmade gift.

Dollar Store Charger Holiday Decor!

Do you remember last year when I showed off my DIY Holiday Gift Idea with a Dollar Store Tray? You can read about it here.

This year I’m showing off my Dollar Store Charger Holiday Decor Gift Idea!

Here is the DIY for the Dollar Store Charger Holiday Decor Gift Idea!

Materials needed:

1. Dollar Store Charger, I chose the color Silver
2. A Maker’s Studio Rescue and Restore Paint in Little Black Dress
3. A Maker’s Studio Specialty Triangle Brush
4. A Maker’s Studio Adhesive Stencils in Alphabet 1
5. A Maker’s Studio Chalk Art there are a variety of colors to choose from. For this project I used Red, Orange and Green
6. A Maker’s Studio Adhesive Stamps in Vintage Icons 
7. A Maker’s Studio Matte Sealer
8. A Maker’s Studio Chalk Art Spreader
9. A Maker’s Studio Foam Dome Brush

Directions:

1. Using the A Maker’s Studio Rescue and Restore Paint in Little Black Dress and the Specialty Triangle Brush, paint the center of the charger. I did not paint the edges.
2. Let the paint dry approximately 30 minutes.
3. Remove the stencil from the package and cut into individual letters. Remove backing on stencil and place stencil on the surface, spelling out your words.
4. Using the Chalk Art and the scraper, apply Chalk Art to the stencil.
5. Remove Stencil and soak in soapy water to clean.
6. Using the Foam Brush, apply chalk art in the color Orange to the Stamp.
7. Stamp the surface.
8. Allow the project to dry, preferably overnight.
9. Use A Maker’s Studio Matte Sealer and apply to complete surface. Use light strokes and only one coat.
10. Using a hot glue gun, attach ribbon to the back of the charger so it can be hung on the wall or include a cake plate stand when gifting to your special someone.

Dollar Store Holiday Gift Idea!

Can you believe it’s November?  Have you started your holiday shopping?  Why bother????  

Why bother holiday shopping?

Why not just make your gifts?  You don’t have to have a ton of skills to make this DIY Gift.

Dollar Store Gift Idea!

As a Maker Boss for A Maker’s Studio, I get a ton of information on fun projects.  I can purchase all of my supplies at a discounted price, sell the supplies and have access to a library of projects.  If you are interested in working for yourself and becoming a Maker Boss, we should talk.  Leave a comment below.

For this easy-peasy DIY Holiday Gift, I used a Dollar Store Tray.  

The first step is to head over to your local Dollar Store and purchase either the metal chargers or trays.  I bought a dozen of each. I have plenty of gift giving and when the gifts are inexpensive, I tend to over-gift.

Once you have selected a tray, paint it with a dark color.  I kept the edges unpainted.  I used A Maker’s Studio Rescue and Restore Paint in Bold Prayers.  It is a beautiful color.  I also used the Specialty Triangle brush because it helped me to get around the edges of the tray.  

Once the paint dried, which is about 30 minutes to one hour you can then begin stenciling.  I like to use the Adhesive Stencils in Alphabet 1 with the Chalk Art color that is red.  It is called Love is.

Adhesive Stencils are made of a mesh material and have a sticky side.  They are so easy to use.  Clean up is just soap and water.

Once the stenciling is complete you can then start stamping.

The Adhesive Stamps come in a variety of styles.  This pack I purchased was the Vintage Icons.  They can be purchased on my website at this link here.

Adhesive Stamps, like the Adhesive Stencils can be cleaned with soap and water.

Once you have completed the whole project, I’d give it a couple hours or even overnight to dry.  You should seal it with A Maker’s Studio Matte Sealer to protect your design.
